Middle East Venture Capital Fund
MEVCF is a venture capital fund that will primarily invest in early stage private, export-oriented businesses that are located in the Palestinian Territories and are active in business services, software and communication. The Fund will be one of the first venture capital funds focused on the Palestinian Territories. It will support the development of the financial sector and private sector in the Palestinian Territories by providing equity or quasi-equity financing for the expansion of local early stage companies that lack a source of venture capital financing that is critical for their growth.

Why we invested
MEVCF gives SEDF an opportunity to take a significant role in the development of the nascent information and communication technologies (ITC) sector in Palestine. Investment in this sector will directly affect relations with neighboring Israel and will play a part in the effort to revitalize this historically distressed region by increasing economic opportunities, stability and consequently security for its residents. By providing seed and start-up capital, the Fund acts as a mechanism to stimulate future investment in the region by demonstrating that deploying private sector capital within Palestine not only can help achieve important charitable goals but is also economically viable.
