Why we invested
SEDF has been a longtime investor in microfinance and financial services. With LeapFrog, we saw an opportunity to co-invest in an area that we believe is the next frontier of financial services: microinsurance. The lack of access to life and/or health insurance guarantees that a low-income family will be thrust back into poverty in the event of illness and unaffordable medical care or a death of a family member that results in loss of critical income for the family. Access to micro-insurance provides lowincome households a critical financial safety net.
