CIDA is a nonprofit university that provides higher education designed to encourage human, economic and social development. CIDA aims to transform its students into leaders of their communities. Thus, it is well positioned to offer wider access to higher education to students who are historically underserved at a low cost to them. The institution has built in community development and personal development programs as well as work-based learning programs to prepare students for the world of work.

Why we invested
What appealed to us about CIDA was its innovative approach to educating the underserved population: by using donations to fund scholarships, all students receive a tertiary education at a fraction of the average cost. Our investment helps expand access to education among South Africa’s poorest population.
